EXTENDED LEAVE
Please refer to Employee Resources & Policies for more information
BEREAVEMENT
All Full Time and Part Time I employees are eligible for bereavement leave for the death of an immediate family member up to 3 days, or, if the employee is required to travel out of state at least 75 miles, up to 5 days. Immediate family members include spouse, parent, child, sibling, parents-in-law, and grandparents.
Employees must inform their supervisor prior to commencing bereavement leave. This request for leave, along with verification requirements referenced below, must be provided to HR via email.
In administering this policy, the Agency will require verification of death and relation to the deceased, to the extent permitted by applicable law. This allows for proper coding and payment of the requested leave.
Bereavement Leave is paid at employee’s base rate of pay for the number of hours the employee otherwise would have worked that day. These hours are not counted as hours worked for purposes of calculating overtime.
